The beginning of the ninth minute of the bronze medal game between the Czech Republic and Switzerland saw an unfortunate accident. In a penalty killing situation Gabriela Žůrková was forechecking the Swiss captain Flurina Marti and during the tackle she fell over the board. Her fall was so unfortunate that she hit directly the metal edge of an advertisement board. During a short treatment right next to the court the doctors fixed her cervical spine with a collar, put her on a stretcher, and the first-line forward was sent for a thorough examination to a hospital. According to preliminary estimates of the doctors she suffered an injury of her hand, the extent of which will be confirmed by the X-ray imaging, and a cut on her finger. In the hospital she will also go through a head examination, to be on the safe side. But during the transfer she was conscious and communicated. She should be alright.
