The first Friday semifinal featured the teams of Sweden and the Czech Republic. The very beginning of the game was under control of the Swedes, with Wibron scoring after 27 seconds. Only a minute later, however, Frida Lindgren was penalized and Bočanová converted the power play. Nevertheless, Sweden did not have to wait for too long and went into the lead again after a goal by Gustafsson. Horňáková managed to touch the ball, but could not keep it in front of the goal line. Sweden went into a two-goal lead after a combination by the Lindgren twins. At the end of the period, Horňáková showed several great saves and saved the hopes of the Czech team for a good result.
At the beginning of the second period the Swedes kept on pushing hard and also thanks to a power play they increased their lead to 6:1 (Edberg, 2x Karlsson). Edberg's goal after a nice combination made the Czech team replace their goalies. With Skopková guarding their net the Czechs gained new energy and Urbánková scored between the goalie's legs. The Czech team was increasing their pressure, but ironically, a goal by Frida Lindgren came on the other side. Despite the effort of the Czech girls they could not stop the Swedes, who added their ninth goal ninety seconds before the end of the second period (Rydin).
The tenth goal was scored in the 4th minute of the third period already, and it was Rydin, who found the net again. Two minutes later the Czechs had a power-play opportunity. But they did not record a single shot on goal and the score thus remained unchanged. The power play continued on the other side when Dvořáková tripped the opponent with her leg. Sweden was getting into scoring chances, but Skopková denied their shots. Another Swedish goal then came in the 14th minute and Wijk was the successful scorer. At 54:18 Sweden took a time out, which, ironically, the Czechs benefited from more, since after 3 seconds Sádková scored the third Czech goal. Another Czech power play was wasted, because instead of scoring they conceded. Skopková saved the Swedish counter-attack but the ball still found its way over the goal-line. The goal by Hanna Lindgren thus established the final score – 12:3.
