The long-awaited battle between Poland and the Czech Republic started slowly. The nervousness was apparent in the players, and hence they did not rush at all. But the Czechs quickly gained some confidence and after six minutes they led by 4:0, after two goals by Urbánková and one goal by Hašová and Bočanová. Especially the second goal is worth mentioning. Bočanová wanted to shoot from behind the opponent, but her shot was deflected behind the goal. The Polish goalie went to grab the ball, which, however, passed under her body when she was changing her position. The loose ball was scooped up by unmarked Urbánková, who found the empty net. After the fourth goal, Poland took a time-out and the coach tried to calm his players down. A while later Poland played a power play, but it remained unconverted and the Poles almost conceded from a shot by Hašová. Poland did not give up and the Czech clean sheet was in danger when Burdová and Skopková had to trap a lob over the entire court. Then the Czechs had two power plays, which remained unconverted despite their big pressure. 15 seconds before the end of the period Němečková made a mistake, passed the ball from behind the goal right to Witak's floorball stick and the Poles reduced the gap to 1:4.
