The third game decided about the winner of Group A

The last game in Group A featured the two current leaders – the Czech Republic and Switzerland. The Czechs occupied the first position before the game, while the Swiss were second. And therefore a draw would have been enough for them in this match. But that is something you cannot rely on, because playing a game with the aim to draw is often tricky. And the beginning proved it. Again, the game started in front of great audience. From the stands you could hear Swiss bells, Czech drums as well as both teams' songs. At one moment you could hear the rooting by the Czech fans and a while later the Swiss cheering was the loudest. And all the girls really enjoyed the atmosphere.

The Swedish twins came to win gold medals

Until yesterday they were almost indistinguishable. The two tireless workers in the Swedish offence virtually fly on the court, create chances and turn them into goals. Their focus on the game was apparent in the situation from the yesterday's game, after which you can finally distinguish the girls from each other. Frida Lindgren lost her earring in a challenge in front of the goal, so she quickly picked it up, put it in her mouth, found free space, received a pass and scored a goal. She could not even cry out with joy. At the today's game against Norway we could see her sister Hanna playing without the earrings.

Norwegian goalie was bravely resisting the Swedish windstorm

The game started in a quick pace on both sides. But from the very beginning the Swedes were confirming their role of favourites. But the Norwegians did not give up and their brave attacks were dangerous for the Swedish goal. They also created several good goal-scoring opportunities. In the middle of the first period the scoreboard was showing the score 4:1; the successful Swedish scorers were Karlsson, Wijk, Göransson and Edberg, respectively. On the other side it was Holm, who scored for Norway. The last goal of the Swedes is worth mentioning; Torstensson was turned with her back towards the goal, but still she managed to send the ball with a backhand pass to the unmarked Edberg, who simply could not miss from the border of the small crease. The second half of the period was played in quick pace, too. The Norwegians were bravely fighting their way through the Swedish defence. At 17:39 Vike reduced the score to 2:5. But further Swedish goals were added by Karlsson (who scored twice and completed her hat-trick within 18 minutes already) and Rydfjäll. Despite the big effort of both teams the period ended with the score 7:2.

Quarter of the game dominated by Finnish power plays

The game between Latvia and Finland was supposed to start a while after 11:00 in the UP hall. The beginning was a little bit delayed due to problems with timekeeping, however. But they were resolved soon and the game could start. Finland benefited from the little distraction after 23 seconds already, when Ilmola opened the score. Only 3 minutes later Wickman added the second Finnish goal. The Latvians were under constant pressure and were not allowed almost anything by the Finns, who hit the post twice and added a few more goals in the second half of the first period.
