The fourth U19 Women's World Championship finished at twelve minutes to five

After the four-day marathon full of floorball we found the new world champions, sympathized with the sad runner-ups from Finland, and celebrated the success of the home team of the Czech Republic. For the first time in the relatively short history of the U19 Women's World Championships, the medals went also to the Czech Republic, although, practically, they just remained in the country where the tournament was held.

The World Championship in Olomouc saw 26 games, although it sometimes seemed that floorball was being played from the morning till the evening. This international event involved a great number of officials, floorball representatives, and above all volunteers, without whom the organization of the championship would not be possible. They deserve our GREAT THANKS for that.

Our thanks also go to all floorball fans who found their way to the sports halls in Olomouc. Just by the way, the championship was attended exactly by 10,001 spectators.

Marcus Holm: Anyone can beat us, it's open

The Swedes returned back to the throne. After they lost unexpectedly to Switzerland two years ago, this year they did not let anyone doubt about who reigns in the world of floorball. And it was Finland who they faced in the final, which they won 6:4.

After two years, the gold returned back to Sweden

The Swedes started to exert big pressure on the Finns from the very beginning. They almost did not lend the ball to their Finnish opponents. In the second minute they already went into the lead after a goal by Edberg. Seven minutes later they even increased their lead thanks to a goal by Karlsson. But Loisa still kept the Finnish hopes for a good result. The success came when Lehto scored from a pass by Hietamäki. At 12:31 the Swedes went into a two-goal lead when Rydin scored from a short distance. There was no chance the spectators could be bored. The game was up-and-down and the thrilling atmosphere in the hall was apparent. The Finns closed the gap to one goal at 14:09 thanks to Kauppila. The first period thus ended with the score 3:2.

Nussbaum: The Czechs defended perfectly

Originally Gaby Breitenstein was supposed to come for the interview. But after the lost 3rd place game she did not feel like talking, and instead we managed to interview the Swiss head coach, Bernhard Nussbaum. His answers were not brusque; he contemplated for a while before answering every question. He never smiled during the interview, though. It was apparent how much this loss hurts.
